AI SEO is the umbrella practice covering GEO, AEO, LLM SEO, and the technical and entity work underneath them. It shares a foundation with traditional SEO — both need a crawlable, fast, credible, well-structured site — but diverges in what happens after retrieval.
A ranking algorithm sorts pages. A language model composes an answer and names three or four sources. Traditional SEO optimizes for position; AI SEO optimizes for being one of those names.
